88' YJ fuel pump question...

I have an 88' jeep wrangler and it hasn't been able to start. I ran some tests and I'm convinced it's my fuel pump. Now I currently have a mechanical fuel pump. Would it be wise to upgrade to an electrical fuel pump? Or should I stay mechanical?
