88' YJ stalling at stop problems.

So awhile back I had a lot of problems with stalling and starting, finally bought a new carburetor and it started right up and ran great... Then I went to get a car wash and I went to start it wouldn't stay running unless I kept giving it gas, so got home tried making some carburetor adjustments and it starts fine now runs rough but everytime I come to a stop it dies. Unless I give it constant gas. Also, after the carburetor install I noticed a high pitched whistle when I press on the accelerator maybe vacuum leak I'm Not sure. Are these problems related? Any help would be great. Thanks guys.
,Alex

does the whistle get deeper and/or disappear when you give the jeep some throttle? if so, you have a vacuum leak that is pretty decent.

which carb did you buy? did your distributor get wet?

The whistle stays the same pitch always. I got a Weber 36dgec. It's been about a week since I got that car wash so I'm Not sure if anything would still be wet. I didn't spray under the hood either. I've heard that this problem can occur with a bad brake booster too. But I'm Just trying to see if I can narrow down where this is coming from.

Check your carb to manifold connection. You could have a leak there which would cause it to run rough at idle. You can check the carb for leaks by spraying carb & choke cleaner around the carb. If there are any leaks you'll hear it. Also check your idle to make sure it's not too low.

Could a leak at the carb to manifold cause a high pitched whistle? Or even stalling when coming to a stop? I just don't understand how it was running perfect for about a week then the second I get a car wash it would stop running well.

yes it can, mine was doing it last week so i had to tear it all down saturday and sunday and put on an offenhauser intake and the mc2100.

water can stay in there a long time. check the cap.

usually, a bad brake booster seal will make your idle raise when you push the brakes
