Post 89 Wrangler Clutch

Clutch went out recently on 89 Wrangler. They replaced the throw-out bearing/clutch plate. Drove it for a week, and the Clutch pedal was very squishy. Had to have it towed back. They replaced the clutch master cylinder. Now for the frist 4-6", the pedal is very flimsey, then it is very tight to push to the floor. It does not feel like it totally releases the gears, and shifts very tightly. Is this due to the nature of a new clutch plate/bearing which are thicker than the old ones and will loosen up with wear? Is it the cold weather in Illinois? Is there an adjustment for the clutch? Or is something else wrong? Thanks. Was first time to this auto repair shop and they don't seem to know jeeps.

clutch

Just spent 8 hours under the jeep on Saturday. Put in a new hydraulic throwout bearing, clutch plate and pressure plate. Changed all the u joints on the drive shafts, new transfer case output seal and changed the trans fluid, transfer case fluid and changed the oil and filter. Runs like a new jeep now. Sounds like you need to bleed the hydraulic clutch, any air in the line will give you a spongy pedal just like brakes. Pump it up and loosen the bleeder and hold the pedal down fill it back up and bled it a couple times. Gordie
