Cool 89 Yj cooling system

Hello all. Just bought this and had to put new radiator in the second day I drove it. The seam at the bottom started leaking on it. It has a 13 lb cap and seems to have air trapped in the system. Any tricks or advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

just replaced the one in my 95.. no to bad to do.. however in the mean time if you want to get the air out.. as its warming up squeeze and release the top hose again and again and this will help to get the air out. have the cap off during the first few mins.

Pull the thermostat and drill a small pinhole into the flat disk. Orient this pinhole up. Why american car thermostats don't have these bleeder holes is FAR beyond my understanding, every foreign car does though. The small pinhole just allows air to bleed out but doesn't allow a significant amount of coolant to flow to effect anything.

I do this for all of my thermostats if they don't have pinholes.

Mac Tools Online Store - Air-Evac Radiator Purge & Test System

I use this, it not only lets me fill the cooling system with no air pockets, it lets me check for leaks.
