89 YJ questions

So I just bought a 89 YJ with a 258 I6. It needs some work, well alot of work but its a project so I like it.

First question is the vaccuum lines are shot, i was going to do a cable accutated posi lock, but was told today to get jeep cherokee passenger side axle and use that with a block off plate, was told there is no downside and that it makes enagaging it easier. Has anyone tried this?

Second Where can i find a weber carb for a good price.

Third when doing and AX15 swap what mount should I get to install it. Current transmission is the BA/10, so you see why I want it out. I have a complete AX-15 bellhousing and NP231J but I am not sure my current mount or my skidplate will work.

Any info would be great, thanks for the awesome site...

Lots have done the solid shaft swap with no issues.

The Weber is not your best option as it can be a PITA to tune and is not known to be the most reliable. Look at the MC2100 or 2150 instead. It is better than the Weber in many ways, more reliable, and easier to tune.

I believe the AX15 swap uses the same mounts but reloctaed on the skid. I used an adapter from Advance Adapters made for the swap.

Is there a sticky write up or it that straight forward? What years cherokee axle work?

Thanks for the heads up, I will be looking for a MC2100 or 2150 where is the best place to look and are they all the same?

I will look into the advance adapter, trying to figure out what I need to make it a smooth transition.

Thanks again...
