Question 89 Yj Wrangler Shifter Boot Alt.

Hey guys ive been doing some research on alternatives for the shifter boot on my 89 yj wrangler. I was hoping to find something a little bit more simple, clean, and easier to install. something like a metal plate that would keep all the dirt and other stuff from coming through. I was thinking about trying to make one myself which would consist of a metal plate with the shift patterns cut out which would then be covered with both a rubber weather strip and plastic brush to protect the cab from anything trying to blow in. Have any of you found some product similar to this idea or tried to make your own? any help would be awesome!!!

Yes it does come with the basic rubber boot. but its a pain to take off and put back on especially when im having to access the shifters trying to replace my piece of crap internal clutch slave and it also seems to collect a lot of dust and dirt inside its ruffles. just really thought this idea would look much cleaner and be way easier to take off.

try it out, you might have something and be able to sell some or help others who feel the same way. mine is an automatic so i only have the t-case shifter which does indeed get dusty and you have to wipe each section on its own.
