90 yj electric choke and idle issue

ok, Running stock carb on my 90 yj and just had an electric choke installed and chucked the manual one. Starts great on the freezing mornings but runs rough until it warms up...maybe three minutes or so. After that, it idles around 1000 rpms but drives smooth as silk. Smells maybe it may be running rich as well. Actually it set of my co2 alarm in garage this morning. If I adjusted the choke a hair, do you that would solve issue or adjust the idle screws? oh... also just had a jeep mechanic tune it up..., that is why i'm asking crazy question. Thought maybe a good tune up would improve my 10mpgs but doesn't look like it so far.. thanks in advance

I would adjust both. It's running too rich at start up and idle hot. What was done with the tune up. Some techs think just changing plugs is a tune up. The evidence is 10 mpg. Unless you're modded like a tank you should be getting a lot better, probably due to running way too rich.

supposedly did performance tune up which included the replacing missing vaccuum hoses from PO. It runs great great except for the the first few minutes but noticed today there is a rich smell when idling and after it shuts down.Dont really expect to gain a whole lot of MPG but at least 3-5 more. Its running 33s with no lift(yet) and is an I6 5 speed manual. Engine only has about 40k after rebuild. Maybe a carb replacement is in store? Or could this actually be tuned to smooth out start up?
