91 Wrangler buying help

Hey guys, so today I was searching online and found a 91 Jeep Wrangler YJ for sale for $1500. The Jeep has 130,000 miles and is a 4CYL. The guy says the car needs work and I understand that due to the pricing. He also told me that he has some parts to go with it. The parts include: new floorboard, passenger side fender, diamond plate, rocker pannels. He told me he would take less than $1500. I'm looking to get a Jeep and I'd like to do work on my Jeep because I'm still a few months from getting my driver's license. How should I go about this? What questions should I ask him? I already asked about the tranny and he said it runs strong. I can include a picture of the Jeep if you guys would like. Thanks for the help!

And if anybody bought a Jeep on craigslist can you tell me what the experience was like and how the sale went about...
