my wrangler is throwing fits at the moment, and it is quite frustrating. it shifts a little rough between every single gear, unless you are between 1500 and 2000 RPM. If i try to downshift there is an awful grinding sound, but it slips in eventually. someone said that the sound when i am upshifting could be an issue with the synchronization gears in the transmission. they also said that the downshifting could be the clutch not releasing.
It still works decently well when it is cold, but the longer i drive it and the warmer it gets, it doesnt work as well. after a while it grinds when i am shifting from neutral into first, and then it dies. it also gets stuck in first or reverse and is terribly difficult to get out. it also seems to be having issues with the four wheel drive.
and ideas? what should i start with? give me some direction here. i have some jeep savy friends that are willing to help, but i just need to know what to research and purchase.
