92 YJ budget build

Long story short...Had a 98 Tacoma which I liked alot, but had a recall on the frame and they gave me alot of money for it. So I found a 92 jeep wrangler inline 6, on craigslist and went for it. Paid 2500 for it, and had big plans. Here is a couple pictures from the day I got it.

Got it stuck in the beach...lol

My buddy pulled it out..

So it has 100K miles on it, little rust damage on the body, and springs sagged alot.

First things first, all speakers blown, bought cheapos on ebay 36 for all 4, cant beat it. Had to let down windshield to install front ones..

Then I had to find a hardtop, so I found one on craigslist for 100 bucks, slapped on some paint and I am looking to make a back glass for it, because it didnt have any to start out with

Lift time
Searched the forums and quadratec.com, 4wd.com and all jeep sites in general. I found a 3" trailmaster lift for a decent price 700 shipped so I went for it. Came with all hardware even shocks.

At the same time I bought wheels and tires..wheels from summit racing, crager v5's, 3.75 bs, 15x8

And I went with 32 11.50 wildpeak from falken, found a hell ofa deal on ebay

Time to put the lift on..Started out fine, the only pain in the ass was removing the inside leaf spring bolts, we had to torch them out. Then we couldnt get the transfer case skid plate bolts out, and ended up breaking a couple. So I bought the nutserts for them and we welded them in for the transfer case drop.
Before

after

It has a really bumpy ride....I dont know if it is the shocks or what, but gosh dern..it be bumpy. I may buy some ome shocks im not sure.

Next on the agenda is to get the hard top on and adjusted. I also bought tj uppers and have to cut the pins down to make them fit in my half hard doors.

Thanks for lookin...

Very nice set-up. I'm a little too cheap to consider mine a 'budget' build. More like a tightwad build hahaha. I'm looking for used parts.

I had bought the slider window uppers for my 1/2 doors. had to cut down the front pin to make em fit nicely. adjusting was a B1tch!!! but now i got the full soft doors, and 1/2 doors all aligned to perfection. I have full doors as well, but ehh...have not used them as of yet.

When I lifted mine I went with a 4" lift kit from Race Car Dynamics. It came with Bilstein 5100 shocks which have received rave reviews. I also installed 5/8 boomerang shackles and the ride is AWESOME. Any leaf spring suspension is going to be somewhat bouncy but I believe the shocks make the biggest difference in the ride.
