How to remove the side view mirrors.

There's three bolts and I can't remember the size of them but they are torx and it's a pretty easy dis-assembly. Make sure to use some penetrating oil, WD 40 or PB Blaster. Anything to make them old bolts come out easier.

Make sure to take pictures and ask as many questions humanly possible.

Just to make sure we are on the same page. I have the little mirrors that mount to the full door it self. Not the larger kind that mount to the door hinge.

Oh snap. Well take off the door panel and the bolts should be right there.

No problem man. I doubt Chrysler/AMC changed the hard door style for Jeeps from the 70's to the mid 90's. I got a 79 J10 with the same doors

Put some big O mirrors on her and snap a few pics of it for us

no do not take off the door panel, there is a small plastic cover at the base of the mirror. pop it off and two screws will be there

Use a plastic putty knife or put some tape on one to keep from scratching the paint and see if you can coax it off. Two screws and your done just be gentle.
