94 Lifted YJ- 280 mile college ride???

Hey everyone i have a question: I own a 1994 YJ I6, 5 speed, lifted 8 inches: (6 inch suspension/ 2 inch body) with 35x12.5 all terrains. What would you think of a 4 and a half hour ride (280 miles) from CT to central PA mostly highway. I am going to college and i am not sure if i wanna drive that far with my jeep. The furthest ive gone to date is only an hour away and ive owned the jeep for a year and a half. I dont know if its worth going that far if get about 10 mpg on the highway, plus and its a bumpy and wobbley ride and of coarse no faster than 70 mph. Not really sure what to do maybe give it a try or buy a more economical pickup? I know some veteran jeepers are gunna gimmie hell for this post but i dont care. I wanna hear your opinons or expierences! thanks

I've driven from Central Kentucky to the OBX in North Carolina in my YJ. Never thought twice about it. FYI, Lexington, KY to Ocracoke Island is about 700 miles one way.

Was it the most comfortable ride ever? Nope. Would I do it again? Yes. Of course, I'm not running eight inches of lift either, so I don't know how road worthy you are. I'm more around 5.25".

I took mine from NJ to Atlanta to SC, to TN then back to NJ (about 2000 miles) last summer- best way to travel! Slower than the wife's Civic but the ride was more enjoyable.

I agree to take your time...

We drove our 94' I6 from Southern MI up through the upper over to Wisconsin and back last summer. About 9.5 hours each way... No trouble at all. Had to get out and stretch overy so often but other than that, it was nice.

I also added a carrier on the back for that trip. Had the family and needed more space for luggage. Really depends on your reliabilty and make sure you have a fresh oil change before a huge trip. Never hurts to check all your fluids and tire pressure as well. A couple pounds of air pressure can make or break a long ride for comfort and gas usage.
