Smile 94 Wrangler AX 15 transmission oil change, which oil to use?

Hi All
I have a 94 wrangler 4l limited with an AX 15 transmission, now, I have to change the oil as it is beginning to refuse to change gear sometimes. My question is what type of oil can i use, the owners manual says GL5 75w-90
very expensive in the U.k. On looking on the forums many people say not to use GL5 oil, and some say the manufacturer now recomends 10w-30 synthetic engine oil, a lot cheaper. I need some clarification please help.
regards
cold wet England.

I use Syncromesh
Synchromesh manual transmission fluid

But 10w-30 full synthetic is fine as well. It has to be synthetic though, and regular won't work. Though syncromesh is my favorite fluid so far.

75W90 full syn gear oil or 10W30 full syn motor oil. Your choice.

I'm running full synthetic 10w30 and it's smooth as butter. Way better than it was, but I'm not sure what was in there before.

This has been beat to death on this forum, some use motoroil, some use full syn....what everybody agrees on is DO NOT use any fluids that are corrosive to yellow metals...it will eat the syncros.....

This isn't totally true. Back when the old GL5 rating and synchro eating fluid was on the market Chrysler recommended a change to 10W30 motor oil. Any of the "modern" 75W90 gear oils, full syn is better, or 10W30 motor oil, full syn is better, can be used.
