94 yj driveshaft

Just bought my first jeep so i'm really green when it comes to jeeps. It looks like whoever had it before me did a lift kit and SOA conversion. It looks like the rear driveshaft doesn't stick in the transfer case as far as it should. What should i do about this? I drove it home 4 hours like this! lol

I've been doing as much research as i can and thats what i keep reading about a slip yoke eliminator. Is that what i need?

Thats what you can do, or have your driveshaft lengthened.

The driveshaft being lengthened is the cheaper route. After you buy the SYE kit, you have to then buy a new driveshaft, because the slip yoke will no longer work.

Some guys go with a standard driveshaft like what is on the front end, and others use a CV shaft, which has a double u-joint on the end nearest the transfer case.

The choice is yours.

just to let ya know i use quadretec.com for a sye and a tom woods driveshaft, im looking at about 580 or so lol but up to you sye and longer driveshaft would prolly be the best route long term but not neccisarly the cheapest

Installing a SYE isnt hard to do with some basic tools, and a good quality set of snap ring pliers.

It requires taking the back of the case off of the t-case and removing some parts, then adding others and replacing the case. Thats about it in a nutshell.

Took me about 2 hrs to do mine in my driveway, took longer for the ATF to drain out of the case than to do the actual swap of the parts.

Most of the kits have detailed instructions with them, or you can watch videos on youtube.com, either way its not rocket science if you are mechanically inclined.

If you are going to go with a TOMWOODS drive shaft, take out the t-case drop down (hockey pucks), its no longer needed, and measure it that way. They make a custom shaft built to your measurements, or you can get one off of their chart that is close to the length that you need.

I would agree with Big on this one. You shouldn't get an SYE if you have no vibration in your rear with the slip yoke, just have it lengthened. If you want to properly do an SYE install you should change your pinion angle to point directly at your TC. That is a lot of trouble to go through if it isn't even vibrating and a waste of time/money. There are better things you can do.

looks alot different then mine tho lol, where the bolts are does it look like there is spacers? hard to tell from the pictures

Before you have your driveshaft lengthened I would take the spacers out and see if the shaft still reaches. If it does then drive it and see if you don't have vibration. If you don't I would use the new TC position for your driveshaft measurement. The PO might have just put that there so the shaft would reach. Since your fixing that you could get an extra inch of clearance.
