95 jeep wrangler LOUD NOISE!

ive got a lifted 95 jeep wrangler.

when im running 45mph or faster there's a loud noise when i press the clutch or when im in neutral. the jeep doesn't even have to be on. i can put it in neutral & roll it down a hill & when it hits 45mph or faster it starts to make that loud noise. it sounds like the drive shaft is lose & ready to fall off. so i check the drive shaft but there's no play.

what could it be??

Look around the u-joints and the knuckles to make sure they are binding up and hitting from the lift...How much lift and are you running SYE kit? Locker?

My money's on a bad rear drive shaft angle. Here's how you tell;
Remove the rear drive shaft from the vehicle and drive it in 4wd high range. This will allow you to drive using only the front shaft. If your vibration is gone then you'll have your answer.

If you dont have a SYE then you will loose fluid out of the yoke where the drive shaft goes in.

yes if you have it then you wont loose any fluids without the ds in there. Dont go running any races with only the front ds.lol especially in 4hi. You may notice some vibration while running at higher speeds than you would normally run in 4hi. Remember the front drive shaft isn't used to running at road speeds and may also be out of balance. It will work til you get the rear ds fixed and reinstalled if that is whats wrong.
