95 Wrangler- Won't Start

Just started to work on little brothers YJ I-4, cranks but won't fire. He said he has replaced plugs and plug wires, but this hasn't helped the problem. What are the engine components we need to check to help get this Wrangler going down the road again?

First thing first.

Check for Spark.

If spark, then check the fuel pressure.

If no spark then possibly bad Cam Sensor (Auto Part stores will call it a pickup coil), distributor cap/rotor, or the Crank Sensor has gone bad (you can test those though if you have a multimeter).

If you don't go ahead and bring the results back and we can continue to help track the problem.

Maybe I should have also mentioned are you getting a Engine light on?

No check engine light-No spark to plugs, fuel pressure good, coil checked out OK.Is the ignition module an integrated part of the distributor? Could this be the problem?

Yup. Theres a Cam sensor in the distributor. Well the FSM calls it a Cam sensor, part stores might call it a Pickup Coil.

O reillys/Napa shows 2-3 different styles...pull yours out before you go to make sure you get the right one.

Thanks Locruid- We changed the cam sensor, starts and runs good now.The gears on the distributor shaft looked pretty worn, so we decided to replace the entire distributor.
