95 YJ 2.5 where to start

I have looked at so many accessories and idea wanted to ask as a beginner. ..where should I start with modding...I in the end want to build an offroad play vehicle but at same time be the jeep for wife and kid rides as we do now...so far it seems a very small oil leak has appeared and oil gauge is getting stuck on high....but temp is great and shifts smooth..I thought about new bumper and winch....any way I am open to ideas...

Welcome to the forum! Nice looking Jeep!

Does it have a small lift on it now?

I had the 2.5 motor in mine. If your going to put bigger tires on it, re-gearing will be the best option to get the most out of the motor. While you do that, put a locker in. Not many mods you can do to the motor itself.

Your oil pressure pegged is common. It's the sending unit in the motor. I went through a few from the parts store. Went to OEM and never had the problem again.

There's a cool mod you can do to make your gas tank 20 gallons. Easy and costs nothing. Search the forum for it.

There are lots if helpful people here. Good luck!

That's a nice looking 95! I also have a 95 with the 2.5l. Chiltons and Haynes can give you a good basic start and some basic maintenece, also search around for a Factory Service manual. They have much more detailed information. A good starting point is to change all your fluids, oil and filter, transfer case, front and rear differentials, and the transmission fluid. Good luck!

On our Jeeps we have 2 differentials. One up front and one in back. Look on you tube for videos in how to change the fluid in them. The transfer case is basically what transfers power from the tranny to the axles. Again look on you tube for videos on how to change the fluid. It's not a tough job to do and should take only an hour or two to complete.

Ok sounds great...I am thinking after get all fluids changed then add a locker and locker armor...then the winch with toe hooks. Should be safe then...
