95 YJ 4.0 w/ 170 k. What to look for?

Hi fullas/fulleses,

I know that these engines can last for 250 with proper maintenance, and I'm actually quite interested in the idea of doing a rebuild down the line.

But for now, what should I look out for to tell me this engine has been looked after?

Clean fluids is about all i know after my limited years of buying cars

Appreciated!

Look for leakage on the sides of the engine. Is there build up?

It looks like it was a Renegade that the cut the flares off of.

It was a body kit that Jeep offered for a few years.

Some people love that look. I think there is even a section on here for them.

I have a '92 wrangler with a 4.0 liter 6 cylinder. Watch for oil leaks. I have a little drip out of my oil pan by the drain plug and she also drips the tiniest bit from the oil filter. I have also replaced my head-gasket and it has helped A LOT with oil related issues. Just keep a close eye on your oil levels and check it often!
