95 YJ backfire need help!

I have a 2.5 YJ that backfires and then after about 5 seconds it will pick up and drive normal for a minute then starts to backfire again, I've also noticed that in redlights it's rpm drop low to the point that it feels like its going to turn off and then the jeeps accelarates by itself but this unlike the backfiring happens rarely. I've replaced the spark plugs, cables, rotor, dist. cap, ignition coil and the idle air control to no avail. I was told to replace the TPS aswell but thought i come here for help first.
