A few questions about a modest lift.

As it turns out, my jeep does not have a lift. I always figured it did with 31 inch tires.72 inches from ground to soft top. 19 inches from ground to rocker panel. Anyway...

This is what I am looking to buy, nothing big to start out with. A 1.5 inch lift.

Black Diamond 1.5" Suspension Lift Kit for 87-95 Wrangler YJ - Quadratec

I have a few questions, and need a bit of a memory refresher.

1. How high can I go with out having to re-gear and drop the T-case?
2. I don't think I need break line extensions, I think...
3. Would anyone suggest something in a cheaper yet still durable market? I've seen people get steals on lifts I just am not sure what all I need.
4. Advise? Much appreciated. I plan to lift the bug smasher up in April so I'm gathering knowledge, tools and a game plan.

Thanks in advance,
-c-

Why are you lifting? Bigger tires?

Inch and a half? You should just get shackles so you don't lose all that money if you ever want a larger lift, just my 2 cents

yea dont waste your money on a small lift, you wont need BRAKE lines for a small lift. after 4" if usually when you start needing pitman arms tcase drops brake lines etc. but do what they other members said and get some lift shackles if you only plan on that small of a lift

I plan on keeping the maxis mudders, I just wanted a bit more height to clear logs plus my leaf springs are about as flat as a piece of glass.

Well thanks cpisani89,Natel37,Signalman. Would it be wise it just replace the stock leaf springs and then just do a shackle upgrade? What kind of shackles would you guys suggest?

Problem is buying all new stock leaf springs cost just as much as the black diamond lift. My stock springs are shot so thats why im going with a 1.5.

Black Diamond is 640 $ including shipping. If you look up prices for stock springs its over 100$ a leaf. When you figure in shocks it makes sence to buy the 1.5.

Agree with everything but the brake lines. I have 2.5"SL and 1" longer shackles and I had to change the lines. When the axle was all the way down the were like a guitar string. On 1.5" SL however I doubt you will run into this.

If you want to avoid dragging a trampoline with you to help you to get in your jeep go with 2.5" on suspension. That should take care of it. It's high enough for exploratory driving and low enough to be more or less comfortably entered and exited.

if your gonna go through all that trouble of buying new leafs and stuff and are swapping out yourself why not consider a 4" lift from rough country? it is only $500 and comes with everything you need. only thing would be you need bigger tires (33's at best) but even 31s look nice under that lift..just an opinion
