a way to prevent vapor locking?

Is there a way to prevent vapor locking? When my jeep is hot from running a while and its hot out side good luck starting it. It bogs stalls and cuts out like its got no fuel. Eventually it will get going again but is there a way to prevent it? It was so bad one day I wouldn't start at all and I have to flat bed it home...

You didn't say what year your jeep is , If it has a in tank electric fuel pump that's a sign they are going out the pump gets hot and creates a vapor in the gas after it sit's for a while it will cool off and usually start right up the pump usually gets progressively worse until it wont pump at all.

vapor lock now days is not nearly the problem that it was back in the old days.true vapor lock is caused by the fuel line or the carb getting excessively hot.back then people battled it with what they had which wasn't much.they would do such things as wrapping the fuel line between the pump and carb with tin foil or clipping wooden clothes pins on the metal fuel line just before the carb to dissapate heat.they sometimes also put smaller air cleaners to try to let more heat get away from the carb. of course these things did not eliminate the problem but in many cases it did help significately.I had a 70 model cj5 with the v6 dauntless in it a couple of years ago that vapor locked bad.I put a 1 inch fiber spacer under the carb which I thought would solve the problem. It did not but it may have helped a little.then I did away with the mechanical fuel pump and installed an electric pump back near the tank.this did not completely eliminate the problem either but it did make it crank when hot much easier , I assume because the electric pump easier replenished the fuel in the bowl that had boiled out without the engine having to crank the mechanical pump long enough to do that..so,sorry about this novel but that is the only way I knew to explain my years of knowledge on vaporlock.best advice I can give you is try to make sure your fuel lines are not running too close to excessive heat and think about adding an electric pump

My jeep is a 87 with a 4.2. I also converted it to fuel injection. I already replaced the fuel pump. Didn't seem to make a difference

I know little to nothing about fuel injection..I would not think that they would vaporlock..at least not like the old carbs did.I do know that fuel pressure regulators on stock fuel injection often causes problems

It only does it when its hot so the only thing I could think of is vapor locking. If it sits out in the sun all day when its hot or after driving a long way on a hot day but once its running its fine. To me it sounds like its vapor locking

on carbs, just sitting in the sun without it being run it won't vaporlock..is there a chance that your tank is not venting ?? you could check that just by removing the gas cap
