air filter covered with oil

i am getting alot of oil blowback into the air filter chamber. when i got this jeep, 92 4.0l it was female owned(no offence) and was not well maintained. had a good anount of sludge. been changing oil regularly and filter every 500 miles. can i remove the valve cover and clean out the oil return ports without damaging anything??

any ideas?

I am having the same showings on my air filter. Oil pressure shows 25-30 at idle, 55-65 while driving.

Thanks all!

your oil pressure is perfectly normal, even a hair low at idle. to the original poster, that would be a good idea, remove the valve cover and make sure the ports are clean since they don't have pcv valve.

Do not take off your valve cover, the ports on top of your vavle cover are replaceable but you will have to go to a jeep dealership to get them(autozone,advanced,etc...) dont not carry them. there should be two, one in the back and one in the middle. I just replaced mine and I also replaced the hoses they are connected to and it cost me about $40. I had the same problem you do.

Well I dont have oil on my filter but I do have to replace my valve cover gasket due to a small oil leakage that is just bothering me not my engine altho it burns a little oil but it runs way high oil pressure at start than it drops to about 40 around idle
