my 89 4.2L squeals like a pig whenever I turn the engine on, hot or cold. it goes away after a while. i think last time i was working on it, i noticed the lower bracket for the alternator is bent. i think this isn't allowing full tensioning of the belt. when trying to adjust the tension or remove the belt as described in the haynes i have, it's simply undoable and i think it might be because of this bracket.
also, i don't have any idler pulleys. i have an a/c compressor that isn't hooked up.
does anyone have any pictures or alternative/replacement brackets and correct setup that i can look at?
