Am i paying too much to get some bolts drilled out?

I've got a 95 with the 4.0L and the 3 bolts that bolt the motor mount bracket into the block are broken into the block. i took it to a shop to get them drilled out. just got a hold of the shop, they've gotten two out and they're a couple hours in with one left to go saying it'll be around an hour for the other one.

They charge 93 and hour. i'm i paying reasonably for this. i've drilled out plenty of bolts before and know what goes into doing that i just wasnt comfortable with drilling into the engine block myself so i took it to a shop. i knew i'd be paying quite a bit but i feel if it takes them 3 hours thats $279 and i think thats overpriced to get 3 bolts removed!

It maybe over priced, but thats the cost of not being able to do something yourself. I paid $200 to have my front axel u-joints replaced because I couldn't get the old ones out myself. I did manage to do the *drive shaft* ones myself.

i guess so, but i was thinking i'd have to pay like 150 maybe 200, that to me is even overpriced and i realized that but i just dont want to have to pay almost 300. i guess this is taking away from my winch fund

Yup. Thats the price we pay for old vehicles... Thankfully when I tried to remove my transmission skid plate and only one bolt came out and the other 5 spun in place, I had the tools to fix that myself... otherwise that would have been an expensive bill too...

ok well thank you. i just got a call from the shop and they finished it up. it took 2 hrs and 45 mins. he said he'd just charge me for about two hours so 200 bucks. i'm fine with that. its a little much but i'm happy to get it fixed and its not worth having a fit over

those bolts are not in the easiest place to get to....200 bucks is more than a fair price IMO

Cheaper than a new block, I need to charge more money for that kind of work.
