Another 4X4 engagement problem

Hi All!
Tried to shift into 4-HI today(it snowed!) no dash light and it didn't lock in, so I tried 4-LO and it did lock in but still no dash light. Any ideas why it will go in LO but not HI ranges?
Does this sound like a vaccum issue which there is pleanty od discussion about?

start easy first it sounds like vacuum seeing as the light is not coming on. the 91 and up have a electric switch that is triggered when the front actuator is engaged. on the later ones its vacuum controlled switch on the firewall that tells the light to come on. either way if its not engageing no 4x4 and no light.

some say why i say
its a jeep thing u wouldn't understand

Thanks for the idea's,,,When the snow melts enough to get under I will start with vacuum lines. It's just weird that LO-RANGE works but not HI-RANGE?
