Another Temp Gauge Problem 95 yj

After getting my engine rebuilt, my temperature gauge has not worked since. Now after a full Sunday in the mother-in-laws garage, I just replaced my temperature sensor, temp sending unit and water pump and it still doesn't work. When the Jeep is off, the needle is all the way down to the left, when you turn it on it comes up to the first white line then stops. Any ideas???

did they put the thermostat in it? do you have good heat after running for a while? usually these things aren't coinsidences, if it happened after motor changed, something got screwed up there. maybe pinched wire somewhere, or a bad ground. good luck

I put the thermostat, water pump, temp sending unit in after I noticed it getting so hot it was leaking out past the clamp in one of the hoses. It seems like it's getting really hot still. So hot it's pushing fluid out of the radiator cap; that or I just have it realy full. Not sure what to do from here. The heat in it works fine, and now all the hoses are warm, or hot, unlike before where it seemed like the thermostat was stuck. Where can I find a wiring kit that would rewire it from the sending unit to wherever it plugs in at?

i'd start w/ a manual and trace the wires. i'm pretty sure its gonna go to the ecm then to the gauge. not completely sure though. just follow the wires from the sender all the way to see if you notice anything, you could also ohm each wire. check one end at the ecm, or wherever it ends, and the other end at the sender/sensor if you got resistance, 99% that wire is good, open means problems somewhere.
