Question another transfercase question

I have a 92 with a 6cylinder, The jeep is lifted and I have always had problems getting it to shift into 4wd, It dosent seem to fall into a gear on transfer case. I have a posi lock which I am positive it works however, on my drive back from lunch in the snow, I notice a couple pops coming from under front seat, im guessing u joints, ( drive shaft still there) but when I hit the lot at work no more 4wd, I can tell its shifting into 4wd, i can feel it changing when I pull back 4wd shifter, however no power to front wheels. any ideas on where to start?

Maybe the shift fork in the posi lock is broken, not allowing the front wheels to engage.

Im guessing it is not going in gear after reading a few threads, because shifter linkage is not right. or at least thats what im hoping anyway. where it is poping out of 4wd!
