antenna question

the po cut the old antenna wire and installed an aftermarket antenna. can I just get a new wire that goes from the radio to the factory mast? or do i have to buy the antenna kit from like quadratec? i don't like the extra antenna that isn't doing anything. i like the factory location. do you think the wire was just messed up causing bad reception or could there be a problem with the factory mast? there is not visual damage to it or kinks or bends. do the factory antennas get good reception?

Mine does fine. I see two scenarios.... 1. PO didn't like the OEM antenna and added his own. 2. The OEM antenna cable was too short for a new radio and rather than find an extension the PO added the other antenna.

You could try a junk yard if you have one to save a little money
