Any ideas for lockers?? 93yj Dana 35/30

What's up guys, I have a 93 YJ with a 2.5" lift. I was hunting this weekend in the snow and realized that I needed some sort of lockers, I was slipping all over the place. I have looked at air lockers, but they cost way too much and I wouldn't use them that often. I also found some other brands powertrax no slip, Detroit locker, and Aussie lockers. From my research I like the Aussie lockers, what to do guys think or suggest?????

I'm partial to Detroit, but hey... I grew up a few miles north of there

I'm in the market for some lockers myself, will be watching for opinions from the crew here.

8.8 rear, spartan locker up front. That is the route I will be going up front anyway. My 8.8 is Posi which is good enough for me if I lock the front. If you deal with snow though the best are selectable lockers front and back. Thats assuming you have about $2000 to drop on it if you dont install yourself.

Overkill, how does it drive on pavement with the front locked full time?

That is an auto locker. Just clicks around turns. Doesnt engage unless in 4x4. Did not buy yet, but have been doing my homework.

I know it only engages in 4x4, just wondering if you knew how it would handle on pavement in winter conditions basicaly, I have considered a spartan up front also, just wasnt sure turning and handling.

Like crap. Selectable is way better in snow because you want an open diff then. Posi/locked diffs suck in snow. If front is locked 2wd might be better than 4x4 in some snowy conditions.

I had a Detroit mini spool in the rear of mine an it was way nice to have after I broke the rear diff for the 7th time so it came out I'd say selectable or the Detroit limited slip that is gear driven i miss my rear locker an I found you mostly need a locker in the rear an not as much up front

Plus on a snowy road if my rear locked in the jeep would go sideways all on its own so it was always interesting driving it

What kind of tires do you have? Improperly utilized, a locker does more harm than good in the snow. Mud tires are not snow tires, only tires with an actual ICE rating work in snow.

I had BFG A/Ts and when the locker disnt kick in it did great not everyone knows how I drove on snow with a locker to it takes some skill an getting used to

Like what most are saying the selectables are going to be best for snow and ice. When you slip one tire spins and pushes you along while the other tire keeps you from sliding side to side
