Yeah, I don't why it would be hard. Positive to positive, negative to negative. I bet if you did a general google search stuff would come up. (Like this: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-ge...6-3rd-gen.html ) I'm curious though cause mine doesn't work.

are you able to simply plug in the pos/neg into the new one (dual cig/dual USB) or is it more involved because you are going from one cig lighter to the multiple outets.

my second quandry is how/where to add the new one. what are your thoughts?

got it. good space. you custom making a holder?

here is what i am thinking and i wonder if you have insight. i want to:
1) replace my cigarette port (i know most things are USB now but it is handy to have)
2) add USB to unused panel area lower right of stering wheel opposite of headlight switch

from what I can see, switching on the cigarette lighter is pretty straight forward.

adding the USB is where I am getting stumped

oh i was confused but now i think i understand. yours is one unit that has all of those in one thing. so you only need one power supply coming in.

do you have a link? i couldn't find anything like that!

This is running on its own power not from the lighter.

I have it going directly into the fuse panel with a 5Amp fuse. This is the only thing that is not under my relay load.

I use something like this it takes one USB outputs it makes it two

This is awesome! can you give a quick rundown of what you did? took apart the piece to get a single usb port and then did what with it?

sorry for the late response.

I don't have a picture of the actual procedure that happened behind the console,
but ill try to explain what i did.

First you need a good car charger none of the eBay china made stuff, you need one that will actually output 1amp for phones and 2.1 for ipads or large displayed items. Take your pick on which charger best works for you. Then go ahead and dissect the charger.

The side that does into the cigarette lighter will have a + , - route those to a line on its own.
Then the opposite site you will find the USB connector, there is two ways this can be done;

(one) is completely de-solder the usb port and move it to where you need it then solder the lines back make sure you solder back how you de-solder it.

(two) is use a usb extender cable, this is the easier way. Leave the USB connector where it is on the charger and just plug in an extender cable and run it to where you need it.
