I like mine too but, I don't think there is any way that they are stronger than factory bumpers.

In my opinion they are worthless if you actually go offroading or value your rig in an accident. I had to replace my tube bumpers (2x front 1x rear) due to small impacts. They dont really offer any true protection and just fold/crumple up.

But as I said thats my opinion/experience so take it for what you will.

Well i intend to replace them with something more suitable for serious off road once I start modding this thing enough to actually do serious off roading for now, I'm just loving having a jeep.

IN MY OPINION tube is the new "Chrome" ugly as sin....

Not all tube, but the 3" stuff used for the Disco era cow catcher bumpers... yea, yuk!

Rock rails with smaller tube steps, are ok, but just ok....

you know... "back in the day", we used to crush bumpers a LOT, and tube bumpers became popular among folks I wheeled with because they were disposable. crush a bumper and you just go buy some steel tubing (and in some cases, even cheap or scavenged steel conduit) and spend an hour welding up a new one for next to nothing. We almost never ran with actual armor grade bumpers like you see these days.

its ok, i have a tube rear bumper.

i am not a fan of htem but it was given to me as a gift. once i get a byob (build your own bumper) kit from this dude on jeepz, i will take it off. i got it last year for christmas and its already rusting. my wife's 93 had front and rear tube bumpers and i hated them. the front ones with the over rider bumper blocks the turn signals too so thats another reason to not like them, safety

I feel like each to his/her own, but for me I would want something more functional. If they were given to me I would find some use for a set, but I wouldn't spend money to buy any, as they really are for looks and not very functional. The metal is usually too thin, and they just dent and bend so easily.
I modified my stock bumper, and think it is just fine. I am very capeable of building any kind I want, but I like the stock one. Again to each their own

I got a smitty built src bumper on my jeep. Took out a telephone pole with it. Fell asleep drivin to work. Went off the road into a 4 foot ditch at 60 km/h. Bounced out on the other side and sheered off a telephone pole. The ditch impact pushed my front suspension back 8 inches on the passenger side and blew out the tire. The stump of the pole went under and pushed the axle back about the same on the driver side. No damage to the bumper from destroying the pole thus protecting the front end of the jeep. So the tubular part of the smitty bumper is def solid lol didnt even bend. 10,000 in damage to the front suspension and axle though. And 10,000 to replace the pole. My insurance company wasnt happy lol.

My jeep came with them. I can only assume because they were cheap replacements.

I drilled 2 holes in the front to mount my plate and they were thin. Not impressed with that. I don't mind the way they look, but they are flimsy. The other issue is they don't offer any recovery points and if you connected to them for such purpose they would surely be destroyed. That all said mine are still on there. Spending money other places for now and keeping them until I save up.

Holy cow $10,000 to replace a power pole?! Made of gold?

Around here, the power company charges about $3k for a bare pole installed, then power, phone and cable tv all have to be transferred, plus any other applications, like fiber optic for education centers or other communications backbones. A really busy pole can be very expensive. Unfortunately, the companies aren't really regulated on charges for this work, and if they know it is an insurance job...

i guess they're a solid bumper, IMO they're too bulky and clunky and dont really looks right. saw a tj today with them front and rear and clean and shiny chrome. Wasnt a big fan myself, but to each their own.

I have the rear end tubular bumper with the tail hitch and I got rear ended last month at like 5 mph, obviously not very fast but she took the hit very well! Bumper got shifted in the hit, bit I just loosened the bolts and pulled it back straight and it doesn't even look like I ever got hit.

So I like them!

Mine looks fine.. I think anyway...besides like they said its YOUR jeep..quit worrying what others think...lol actually my tubes came from a CJ...had to mod a bracket to make it fit....and the thing about being weak doesnt apply to mine...my wife has to do a door check @ work every morning...so I pull up as close to these doors as I can ..about 3 days after I got the bumper on..got to close and my bumper and the brick wall had a conversation...brick wall suffered an 8th to quarter inch deep scratch...bumper had nothing, didnt even tarnish the chrome

Not me, but my relation took out a pole with a bat-wing shredder (bush hog, whirly mower, whatever you want to call it) I think the company charged us $500

Don't feel bad about your tube bumpers. I don't even have a rear bumper.
Hoping to get around to that issue next week...

I don't think its the round shape that creates the weakness, but rather the wall thickness of the tubing.
