Incorrect. ALL Jeep YJ's had a 3 speed trans. The 4 speed trans did not see a wrangler untill 03. The 3 speed trans in the YJ's is called a 32RH. Its also reffered to a 904 or "Baby 904" I believe they are the same in the YJ's, however I dont honestly remember if they were available with a lock up torque converter in the YJ's. However, as long as you get a trans from a 6 cyl and check the outputshaft spline count you should be OK
