AX-5 FROM 92 YJ Work in 89 YJ?

My jeep is an '89 YJ 2.5l 4cyl. I got a possible great deal on an AX-5 tranny from a '92 YJ AX-5 2.5l 4cyl. Will it fit?

I have a low budget here, and just need the car to run. This 92 AX-5 is priced right. Will an AX-15 fit with no modifications?

Not a direct bolt in. You would have to get a bunch of extra parts. If the other AX-5 is low mileage and in good shape just swap that in. Just don't expect it to do anymore than your current AX-5.

the 92 may have a different bell housing on it and a different speed sensor but thats about it. jsut swap the original bellhousing from the 89 to the 92 and the speed sensor and call it a day.

Hey thanks. Where is the speed sensor. When I google I see reference to it on the transfer case. I have the 89 transfer case which I was intending to just mate to the new used tranny.
