ax-5 transmission tear down help needed

anybody here ever tore down an ax-5 for a 91 yj wrangler with the 2.5L 4cyl in front of it? i have it out and tore down to the gear box on the bench. problem is im stuck at being able to open the case past that. i have pulled al the retaining clips off but cant get the gears with the fork off. the bearings feel like they're slip fit but the gears must not be. i found chunks of some gear in it with a magnet (it was making a knocking sound in every gear but 4th gear. any help would be great. anybody live near kci in kansas city mo? email me at flyingvplayer@yahoo.com

i need a new gear box. i will trade for a nice s&w 40cal hi-power sigma in the box, perfect condition.
i have the 2.5L 4cyl with a 5 speed ax-5 transmission. anybody know where i can find a person with one of these transmissions let me know there name & # or email me at flyingvplayer@yahoo.com

I pulled the input shaft cover off my AX 5 and noted the bearing was loose causing the shafts to seperate a distance til fifth gear shed its teeth. If that lite duty trans can't live behind a 105 hp 4 cylinder there is no sense spending any more time or money on it. I opted for a low mileage 92 4.0 drive train to transplant into the frame rails. In the package I bought the engine, trans, t/c, gas tank, axles, drive shafts, radiator, transmission mounting plate, leaf springs and they threw in a beautiful grey hardtop that looks like a garage queen.
I will have two 2.5 motors, ( one rebuilt the former owner was going to install ), one t/c, and a good AX 5 transmission case that will be in the for sale pages after the installation of the 4.0 ( rebuilders have a 350 core charge for a case so there must be some value there besides aluminum price. )
