Axle nut help.

I'm trying to get the axle nut off of my front dana 30 diff. I can't seem to get it loose. I tried using a pry bar, even my weight would not break it free. I am soaking it over night. My questions, am I risking snapping something off? Is it cross threaded? any ideas to help get it off?? Thanks.

I needed a good breaker bar and a 3' length of pipe. I first did this to my 1/2" ratchet before buying a breaker bar though.... The nut is torqued to 175ftlb

I have been using about a 2 foot piece of pipe and my breaker bar with no luck.

I tried everything on mine... Long breaker, impact gun, penetrating lube, heat, and lots of creative speach. I ended up cutting it and splitting it, being very careful to not get into the threads.
A few FACTS:
Rectangle headlights ARE kinda cool.
YJ does NOT stand for "Yuppie Jeep".
Jeeps should only have TWO doors.
You should ALWAYS wave at other JEEP drivers.

Thanks everyone! I have a buddy bringing me a bigger pipe. Hopefully that and soaking it all night will do the trick.

Farmer's impact wrench

Set it up so you can pound on the nut as you are applying pressure. That is the same result as an impact wrench. It doesn't take a tremdous amount of impact, just a moderate blow with a 3lb or 2lb hammer against what would be the end of the bolt, but covered up by the socket, etc.

Can do the same thing with a screwdriver or torx by striking the end of the handle when applying pressure to turn. Best not to miss and hit the hand though. That causes other effects.

Thanks for the tip ballistx. I will have to try that next time I have a stubborn bolt or nut. Soaking it and the 4 foot pipe did the trick.
