AXLE questions

once my v8's in the rig and ive switched my trans,(thinking about an old three speed- or just to an ax15). do i then measure for shafts? should i switch out the axles or just upgrade the strength of metels used? weld the tubes? i cant measure shafts until i set new axles right? if i need different axles, which should i use? gears??? 4-10 in right now.<-thats why i only have 33" tires. what size gears do i need to run 38's? i'm also trying to keep it jeep from the bellhousing back... i got a ton more of questions...

What axles do you have now? Are they stock? YES UPGRADE!

yeah there stock, upgrade is manditory yes, but can i use the tubes and everything and just get chromoly axles in what i already have and weld the tubes,or do i need different axles all together?

If you plan on running 38's whole bigger axles are needed. Dana44 or better, preferably D60's.

thanks thats what i needed, i can probably salvage the dana 44 for cheaper than upgrading the dana 30... is there a length difference? (drastic) thanks again for your help

Depends on what you get the D44's from... my suggestion would be from a full size Wagoneer.

is that the closest match to stock 30's? im concerned about being to wide... but i8f thats the popular route i'll run with that. thanks
