Bad clicking noise

Drove the jeep about 100 miles today got ten minutes from home and noticed a metal clicking noise coming from trans/tcase when I shifted Into gear and when I pressed my clutch in it would slow down as I slowed down but it shifts fine I'm just fretting a little this is the only vehicle I have right now anyone have any idea what it may be I've heard it may be the tcase chain

I had this too and raised my jeep off the ground with jack stands and ran it. My back u-joint is bad. Just got it off and will see if that was the root of the problem.

Yea checked my back u joint right at the back of my tcase it's got a ton of play but would this cause the clicking noise as well? Also I'm still not sure what purpose that bolt serves

Yes, if its sloppy then the bearings are worn (or in my case turned to dust), with no bearings it binds and thats the clicking you hear. Eventially it would wear enough to that the cap actually pops off, cuasing your driveshaft to drop and then bad things can happen.
