Belt squeals

What are some causes of a new belt to squeal. All the pulleys are good. This is the second new belt and I have no idea why it squeals and squeeks

I had the same problem with mine. After double checking the tension and idler pulleys, I found out that my alternator was getting bad. It was drawing a bunch on start up and causing the belt to squeal. once I changed it... no more squeal.

Not sure, mine charged just fine but I noticed that while starting the volt gauge fell way down. Seemed odd to me and it squealed when it did that. So since I have more money that sense I replaced the alt. Bam!! no more squeal. Auto zone for $103.00. Prolly not the right way to go about it but I hated the looks like.... hey stupid, tighten your belt!! I kept wanting to yell out my door.... it's tight!!! LOL

I'm just confused why it didn't do it on the old belt but started once a new belt was put on

Mind did the exact thing!!! Didn't do it with the old belt. I noticed a little cracking so I replaced it and then the squeal started. I had some one say that the old belt wore different grooves in the alt pulley and the new one will take some time to "seat" in. But what I've said is what fixed it foe me. Who knows, the new alt pulley may have done it.
