BEST Mod Yet, and most expensive

After completely rebuilding the '89 YJ, there was only one mod I hadn't done yet. It attaches to the trailer hitch and lets you go the one place the Jeep unfortunately can't make it. It does add about 2000 lbs and reduces top end speed to around 65 mph with fuel economy decrease from 18mpg to 13 mpg. Click image for larger version

Haha nice pick up man, love boats! You know the saying though, "If it flys, floats or f*cks, its cheaper to rent it"

Good luck with it!

I have one of those, but it's wind-powered.

Hoping for a big breeze, so I can turn off the ignition & just saill the whole rig up to the lake......that should help the gas mileage.

The two happiest moment for a boat owner are when he buys the boat and when he sells the boat! Enjoy your time on the water and don't forget your pfds!

This!

I sure do miss it sometimes though. I actually found my old open bow that I sold off six years back about a mile away from where I work. It's for sale now and I stopped by and took a look at it. The years have not been kind to her. Looks like the current owners have left it outside without a cover for the duration of their ownership and the interior is terrible and it obviously hasn't been waxed since I last did it.

Just a word for safety. I pulled my boat a few times with my YJ back when it was stock and before I got a Durango to haul it. Don't use fifth gear, keep it in fourth for interstate driving. Additionally, keep it under 60 MPH and even that is pushing it. The short wheelbase of the YJ will get VERY squirrley, especially with a single axle trailer. You'll feel that thing start swaying and it's very easy to lose control.

I love boats. I just sold my 16ft fiberglass bass boat few weeks ago. Live closer to river/swamp than lake so buying a new G3. I had mine about 3 years. Certainly at times the cost to use added up but 100% glad I did. I can't imagine not owning a boat. But gotta use and live close enough to water. Enjoy.
I would post pics but I can't from app. Says I exceed the limit, even after I changed image quality to lowest setting

I could not even imagine not having a boat. My parents have a place on Houghton Lake in Michigan and I fish the great lakes for salmon and trout atleast once a week. My boat is deep v 19.5 ft aluminum boat and don't know how the jeep will do pulling it. Not worried about the v8 power, but am worried about the road manners.
Congrats on the purchase, I'm sure you will enjoy the sh** out of it.

Im partial to stand up jet skis myself. My YJ can tow 5 of them lol. Love being on the water but don't like the huge expenses of a boat.

55mph should be plenty quick enough for towing something of that size, keep it in 4th gear and it'll motor along just fine.
