body work

Checking on replacing the frame and tub on my YJ due to rust. A potential replacement tub has damage at the back corners. They will probably need replacement. Has anyone replace the back corners and can you walk through the process? Specifically about access and welding in the replacement.

Pictures would certainly be helpful.

Thanks.

I have installed new side panels and 1 new corner on my cj7. The tubs are very similar. The corner is attached by spot welds in the pinch seam between the side panel and around the tailgate area.

The welds around the tailgate can be cut with a spot weld remover that can be bought at a place that sells to body shops but I think Harbor Freight sells them too.

Now the welds between side and corner panel will be harder to get to since you want to reuse the side panel. I used a air hammer to remove hammer the 2 sections apart.

A good set of steel trail corners may be a good option too.
