Brake Light staying on???

Since I got the Jeep, the brake light has been on. The owner didn't know what it was. I googled around and could not find anything really related to my problem. Can anyone help?

If it's the dash brake light, it's either that the e-brake switch is stuck or a problem with the master cylinder. If you have the proper amount of fluid in the master cylinder and your brakes are working fine then I would say check the switch at your e-brake, it just might be stuck.

Its on the Dash. The brakes work fine. How could the e-brake be stuck?

He said "ebrake switch" It could possible be stuck in just a tad...Not meaning the ebrake is actually on....Just the switch. Could be anything though....

Try unplugging the connector at the pro portioning valve at the master cylinder for a few days. Sometimes that valve gets "confused" and gives a false reading.

If that doesn't work, try bleeding your brakes to rebalance the pro portioning valve.

Had the same problem a few years back. That's all it was.

^The dash light is the malfunctioning one.

There should be a switch on the e-brake itself. It's a dumb design, but it can get corroded up and not work properly, or it's sticking.

there is a recall on yj e brake pedal installation. it is vin specific and u can call 877IAMJEEP to get a lot of history specific to your buggy. Try releasing and lifting the E-brake pedal with your toe does the light go out?

I played with the senser on the E-brake, I pushed it all the way in and the brake light dimed a little bit but did not go all the way off

Remove the wire from the switch, see if light goes out. If it does then replace the switch if not then check wire for breaks in the insulation or missing insulation they could be touching metal and causing the light to come on.
