Brake lights not working

Hi all,

I just picked up a 93 Sahara lifted on 35s.

The brake lights were working fine until the day I went to get a sticker.

Does anyone know of a wiring diagram or what color is the wire in the wireloom that runs along the body back to the brake lights?

I tested the switch at the pedal and I believe it's working because one of the wires gets power when the pedal is pushed. the fuse is good.

Thanks in advance.

This happened to me--same year jeep.

But I had a starting prob. It affected the rear lights: runners, heads, parking.

I chased ALL the leads from the battery and wrenched them down. Problem solved.

Hope you are that lucky. A Chilton's auto repair guide for your jeep is available in every parts store. They are fairly worthless, but they have extensive electrical/switch diagrams if that doesn't work.

If it's not a simple matter of wrenching, or a simple fuse, then it's a switch.

If it's not headlights or runners and only brake lights my only other guess is your brake lights became un-grounded. I had my runners but no brakes and that was the cause.

Crawl under your beast for an hour---it might become clear.--Good luck.

I would check the brake light switch on your brake pedal. That is a very common culprit in a situation like yours.
The three most useless things to a pilot are the air above you, runway behind you, and the gas back at the airport.

Always keep the dirty side down and the pointy end forward.

The harness runs down the driver's side and can be easily accessed.

Clean the connection at the brake light switch as I've seen these corroision short them.

Do you have tail lamps? How about hazzards? If yes to both I'd bet its in the column...turn signal switch...about $35 at Auto Zone.

Tail lamps are working, hazards are not.

do the turn signals work? if so, swap silver cans on fuse block next to brake pedal. if they then work and turn signals do npt, replace silver can. cheap fix. buy at any auto parts store.
