I'm Puttin a 3 inch lift on my 94 and im gonna need new brake lines well extended i know not to get stainless. But i heard somwhere that you can use brake lines off a different Truck/Jeep something with a little modification. Any one heard this any suggestions ideas anything Thanks
Why not stainless? They are a lot better than the crappy rubber ones that come stock. The new stainless lines on my TJ make the pedal feel sooo much better.
i like your color maybe ill do the the stainless Dont you love those days where the tops down doors off and its 95 when you go in the house and after you sit online for an hour or so your brother comes down and says dude its pouring
i figured so i plan on runnin 33's and i want some clearance so 3" suspension and 2 in body should do it but we arent do the body lift till we swap in the 6cyl so i dont need the lines right a way
Your flexible (rubber) brake lines are attached to your hard lines, and your hard lines are attached to the frame. Therefore, a body lift has no relationship to your flexible lines. Your hard lines will need to be modified when you do the body lift because you are moving the body and master cylinder further away from the frame. Most suspension lifts will come with brake line relocater brackets so your stock lines will still work. Stainless lines are definately better than rubber lines though even though they are not required for your lift. Just another upgrade down the road.
I'm so glad to hear this, because I just ordered SS brake lines when I ordered my lift (I didnt need them, its only a 3" lift, but like Daddyjeep said, its just another upgrade). But the initial post in this thread had me thinking about what i did... glad to hear SS are the way to go
Last year at Moab, we ruptured a SS brake line, and there are pro's and con's to which is better. The SS braided lines do look better, and you would think they would be stronger. But in the end, the rubber ones seem to be able to handle stress loads better. I guess rubber expands, and bends easier, than the braided steel ones. If you get too much expansion, you get brake fade, so I would still go with the SS braided lines, as the above failure, is very rare.
thanks for all your info guys its helpin me in probably the 2nd hardest problem with my lift first being what size ubolts i need i know extended but do you guys know size in inches they are across not lengthwise
