Brakes are weak...again.

Several months ago the brakes on my Jeep started getting weak where I needed to push harder on the pedal for the same effect. My mechanic quickly fixed it and said the rear brakes just needed to be adjusted. Now, it's started happening again, and I was hoping someone might have some idea why?

Most drum brakes are supposed to adjust automatically. Sounds to me like the adjuster in the drum is no working and therefore you have to manually adjust from time to time. You can pull the drum and replace the adjuster should fix your problem.

Assuming you've checked levels for a micro leak in one of the brake lines?

rear brakes self adjust when you use the parking brake. u can adjust them manually by removing the oval plug on the backing plate and use a flat bar to turn the spur to tighten the shoes.
