The first thing to do is find out if you are getting current to the light. Turn on you key and the turn signal to the lamp with the problem. Then turn on your parklights and remove the bulb from the lamp in question. Then ground your test light and use the probe to see if either of the little brass contacts in the bottom of the socket are getting power. You should get a flashing signal to one of the contacts and a steady signal to the other. If you get only the flashing signal, then the problem is somewhere between the lamp and the switch.

You state that the signal and brake light work. If you don't get a flashing signal from either contact, make sure that your test light clamp is properly grounded.

Let us know what you find.

Good Luck, L.M.

ok! well! i got in the rear brake light and found a wire snapped, i made sure the two ends i found belonged to the same wire, then fused them back together...i put on my right turn signal (the one that was out) and the main light and the reverse light are blinking back and forth.....and the left reverse light is blinking! rechecked the wire i put together to double check and it was the correct one...now when i hit the brakes the right reverse light turns on instead of the brake light and the left reverse light turns on.....im so darn lost...

The current symptoms indicate a bad ground.

Take the light loose from the body of the Jeep and unplug it from the harness.
Look around for where the ground wire screws to the body. Remove the screw and scrape that part of the body to clean bare metal. Clean the ring terminal with a wire brush and put the ground back together with a dab of dielectric grease. Plug the lamp back together with another dab of dielectric grease. Mount the lamp back to the body and put the bulb into the socket with a third dab of dielectric grease.
Before you reinstall the lens, test the lights. They should work as designed now.

If they work the way they should, put the lens back and do the exact same thing to the taillight on the other side.
If they don't work the way they should post again for more suggestions.

Good Luck, L.M.
