Breaks for 36" tires?

Have a 90 wrangler yj with a chevy 350 auto transmission. Not sure if the breaks were ever upgraded after the tire installation and they are bad. My question is, if I'm not going to be off-roading for a while, will new factory breaks suffice for around town driving. My Jeep needs new breaks;however, I'm trying to adjust other major components for off-roading at a later date. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. (gotta love auto spell check...the correct spelling is BRAKES)

Spell check doesn't help if you use the wrong word, but its spelled correctly.

I would definitely upgrade the brakes since you have larger tires. You still need stopping power when you drive onroad. If you search these forums, there were a few discussions with recommendations on upgrading brakes.
