The whole shifter assembly will have to be replaced if you can't get it welded. Did the same on my 94 YJ.

I found a used one on Ebay. I think it was about 25 bucks. It was my 4 wheel drive shifter.

The upper section comes off but they can be a little difficult to remove. I drilled and tapped mine and put a piece of 3/8-16 threaded rod in it.

Since you have an auto, you apparently need the 4 wheel drive shifter. You will have a NP231 transfercase. That shifter that you provided the link for above should work. It's the same one I put on my NP231.

The ax5 and ax 15 are manual transmissions. They just have that listed wrong on ebay. It isn't the shifter for the tranny. It's the one for the transfer case.

That one you found on Ebay is the same guy I got mine from. Super fast shipping. Only took two or three days to get to me.

Not too bad if you are mechanically inclined.

My t-case and tranny were out when we replaced the shifter on mine.

Go to your local muffler shop, they can weld it back on for you..... prolly only charge you $25, which is alot cheaper then buying, then the time replacing your shifter......

Same thing happened to mine. I ground the stub flat and used a 14x1.50 die to cut threads onto the end and put a 14x1.50 lug nut on it. If you'd like ill grab a pic and post it. The shifter is just the right size to cut that type of thread onto it.
