Broken track bar bracket.

Here is what has been going on.
I bought the Jeep a few months ago and have been driving it as a daily driver and once in a while I would hear a rattle. I thought it was on the passenger side so this was side I was looking at and thought it was a shock and decided not to worry to much about it as I was going to lift it any way.
I got the lift and found that the rear track bar was broken off just below the bolts and was or is, just hanging there. My question is this, is there a replacement out there that I can get? I know I would have to pull the axle any way beings that it is going to be almost out doing the lift. Or should I weld the bracket back together and shore it up? Any input would be great..

remove it completely, 99% of the YJ owners will tell you the same, 75% of them have already removed both front and rear.

Most suspension lifts tell you in the instructions to remove the rear anyways.

Both of mine are in the scrap pile. It's like a free upgrade when you take them off.

My 95 that I just bought yesterday is missing its rear track bar. The axle mount is broken which sounds like same situation you have. I was upset about it at first then realized after searching here its not needed. I'll take the front off too.

when I bought my 95 some PO had rewelded the broken bracket you guys are talking about, what a waste of time.

I removed my rear several years ago and the front today.

If you think about it. You have been happily driving your with a broken one and didn't notice anything negative.

They are required on coil spring vehicles but serve no mechanical purpose on a leaf spring vehicle.

That is what I have been hearing but, on the other hand, I have also heard that it is not a good idea to remove them. You are right though, I have not noticed any ill effects from driving with it broken aside from and annoying sound. I think I may just as well take it off and complete my lift. Thanks for your advice.. and if six responses are telling me to take it off, there has to be some thing to it huh? Time to finish my lift and get out there..

Its not a good idea to keep them, it impeads on the movement of your axle. Leaf springs want to only go up and down, a track bar has to move in an arc, this causes your suspension to bind giving you a rough ride. If you look at the rear axle on most-all trucks you will not see a trackbar whatsoever.
