Busted transmission

Well as the title reads I have a jeep that won't run and summer is coming up. I have only one question should I buy another AX-5 to put in or should I upgrade and put a more heavy duty one in? If I wanted to upgrade what would be a good choice? I am looking for a lot of good suggestions.

If you're running 35s, I suggest getting the NV4500 trans. Definatly worth the investment.

Brand new from Quadratec is less than 4k, if you can drop that kinda cash.

whaaaaaaaaaaaattttttt listen man i was in the same pickle i had the ax-5 with the 2.5l...i run 31's so my tranny was gonna go for more than likely the second time, so i was like i will jsut replace it...but then my engine blew due to me being a jacka#& and forgettin to turn on my radiator fan after mud boggin...so i just spent 1300 on a 100,000 mile complete engine (wire harness cpu, all extras) and the ax-15 and tcase...the ax-15 is pretty good behind a modestly built 4.0l so its all good to go ...wow that was alot less then 2000 and i got a healthy trail beast..for under 2,000..i know it is used but so are your jeeps and if it goes bad than you have a good foundation..also there is a company thtat makes an adaptor for the ax-15 to mate it to the 2.5l i will find it and post it if you want..other than that good luck

i agree w/ yjwrangler. don't put 2 grand in adapting a trans to the 2.5. i thought about putting t-18 to my first 4 banger. if you got 2 grand, get complete used engine, manifolds, wiring (unmutilated), ecu, trans and all, and upgrade whole drive train. you'll be much happier. i repeat this a lot, i've had jeeps with 2.5 and 4.0. 2.5 was a great work horse motor, but the 4.0 is friggin noice. strong, powerful, and long lasting, 2.5 is just long lasting. just one man's opinion. good luck brotha

Hit the local scrap yards and see if you can find a trashed YJ, TJ or XJ with a standard trans. Buy it as a donor vehicle.

It's not that I have 2K just sitting around I just thought that if it was going to be that much I might be able to come up with it. I will start looking at some scrap yards and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the ideas.
