Can anyone help me.

Can anyone help me! My 95 Jeep stop running on the freeway on Monday. It was towed to my house and I was told that I my fuel pump went out. OK there is want I did today, I replaced the fuel pump but that did not repair the problem. The fuel pump fuse keeps blowing every time I turn the key on. Can anyone get me going in the right direction?

Was the fuse blowing before the pump change. If not make sure you didn't pinch the wiring when you put the tank back in. Ether case you need to look for a short in the wiring harness. Might start by swapping out the fuel pump relay.

Yes, the fuse was blown before I replaced the pump. I check all the wires from the tank to the fuse planel and was not able to find any bad wires. I also replaced all the relays in the fuse panel (unless there is a different location for the fuel pump relay). Thanks for your help

When is the last time you replaced the fuel filter?

Yesterday when I replaced the fuel pump. I did bypass the fuel pump relay (87 to 30) and got the fuel pump to work, but when I went to start the vehicle it blow the fuse. It seems to be when I turn the key to the on position or try to start the engine it blows the fuse every time. Could it be the ignition switch or ECU?

Sounds like you have a dead short. Trace the wires back to the pump, mine were chafed right over frame rail behind the driver side wheel.

If you jumped it and it ran, I would be more apt to put it in the harness under the hood from the ecm over to the distro block....or the ecm itself could be bad since its what triggers the relay you are bypassing.

OK, I did so more work and here is my update. I changed the ignition switch today and still no change. But what I did find out was when the key is turned to the on position the fuses blows right away (does not matter if the relay was in or out). If I leave the key off the fuse will NOT blow and I can bypass the relay to make the pump run. Thanks for your reply but I still need more help.

How do you test the ecm?
